CHANCE

CHANCE
This image was the cover page for a paper I wrote on the Dada art and literary movement in the early 20th century. A collection of artists and writers gathered inZurich,Switzerland during World War I and decided to protest the insanity of war through their perspective mediums. The artist chose the element of chance to reflect their protest of “rules” that had governed the art that preceded them. No rules, spontaneity, what flowed from their inspiration became the image. Their critics wrote them off as frivolous or whimsical, but they took their protest very seriously and they make an important statement in the history of art.      Status: Collection of the artist.
